Lodge Rooms
Designed to echo Huka Lodge’s earlier times as a fishing Lodge there is a deliberate use of natural materials and a very soft colour palette throughout. All Lodge Rooms have wooden terraces and outdoor chairs.
Guests gather in the main Lodge building for dining, to plan recreational pursuits, for pre-dinner drinks, to relax in front of the blazing log fires, to use the internet, the library or the study.

The Owner’s Cottage
Guests are accommodated in four magnificent suites with en-suite bathrooms. The Cottage has a large sitting room with suede couches, antique leather chairs, fruitwood dining table and log fire.
Seamlessly flowing into the deck beyond, there is an infinity pool, set against the river. The Cottage has a well-equipped kitchen and butler and chef are available if required. There is also separate accommodation available for staff. A den has deep leather chairs, plasma television, computer and internet access. All bedrooms have their own fireplaces.

The Lodge has a wonderful collection off original paintings and antiques. These are all displayed throughout the rooms and contribute to the superb ambience.

Property Information

Dining

Guests have the most romantic and unique private dining venues to choose from, many featuring outdoor fireplaces and beautiful garden features.

The main dining room has private tables and a log fire. Guests may choose to dine in the vaulted underground Wine Cellar or beside the river in the Jetty Pavilion or upstairs in the Trophy Room. There are many additional choices and they are all deliberately romantic.

Each day the Executive Chef designs a superb five-course dinner menu for guests, choosing the most fresh and best quality New Zealand produce to do so. Huka Lodge has published its own cookbooks by popular demand.

Breakfasts at Huka Lodge are legendary and lunches are often picnics for guests enjoying adventures beyond the grounds.

Things to Do

Taupo is located in the central North Island and is blessed with superb recreational opportunities. Lake Taupo and its many rivers and streams attract very serious Rainbow and Brown trout fishing. Expectations of catching a trophy-size fish are not often disappointed. Aquatic adventures abound and include kayaking, river rafting, sailing, swimming, para-gliding and more.

Horse riding, guided walks, mountain biking, golf at nearby Wairakei International Golf Course are all very popular activities. Within the Lodge grounds enjoy tennis, croquet, petanque, swimming and in-room facials and massages.
