Day-By-Day Itinerary

Day 1 Fly USA to Port Moresby (Via Brisbane)
Please note international air from the USA has not been included in the package price.
Day 2 You cross the International Dateline
The International Date Line is an imaginary line on the earth’s surface that approximately coincides with the 180th meridian (LONGITUDE), and separates the calendar date. Traveling east across the line takes the traveler back one day; traveling west, takes the traveler forward one day.
Day 3 Arrive Brisbane
You will stop in Brisbane for a night before continuing to Papua New Guinea.
Day 4 Fly Brisbane to Port Moresby
On arrival into Papua New Guinea’s capital, Port Moresby, you will be assisted to your flight on to Mount Hagan, where you will be transferred to your hotel.
Mount Hagen is a bustling commercial center where wealth from coffee and tea plantations has brought rapid change to traditional life style.
Days 5-6 Mount Hagen Touring
Two full days are spent exploring the Hagen Area and Wahgi Valley. The Mount Hagen area is the home of the Melpa people, a people with a strong culture, who in the face of moderninity, still live largely traditional subsistence lifestyles. In the mountains surrounding the Wahgi Vally lives a stunning array of bird, orchid and plant life.
Day 7 Fly Mount Hagen to Karawari
The mountains start to give way until eventually vast tracts of dense tropical lowland rainforest cover the landscape. Transfer by river boat and 4WD to your accommodation.
Day 8 Karawari Touring
Wake up to the chattering of Lorikeets and Eclectus Parrots. After breakfast enjoy touring programs that provide insight into the amazing ecology and culture of the Karawari area.
Days 9-11 Sepik River Cruise
Transfer by riverboat to the M.V. Sepik Spirit. With its shallow draught, it allows travel to rarely visited areas of the Sepik River and its tributaries in comfort. Explore the many waterways of the Sepik and its tributaries including visits to traditional Sepik Villages. Steeped in mystery, the people of the Sepik area have fascinated anthropologists since the area was first visited.
Day 12 Fly Sepik River to Tari
Fly over some of the most rugged and impressive landscapes in the world. The country between Ambua and the Sepik region is an amazing array of jagged limestone that seem to rise and drop at impossible angles. The Tari Valley is home of the Huli, a colorful and proud people, still largely living the same way that their ancestors did.
Day 13 Cultural and Ecological Tour
The Tari area is home to an incredible 13 species of birds of paradise, as well as numerous orchid species. Learn how the Huli live and how they interact with and use their environment. Venture along nature trails with traditional vine bridges and take pictures of secluded waterfalls.
Day 14 Fly Tari to Port Moresby (Via Mount Hagen)
Transfer to the airport for your onward flight. Port Moresby lies on the southeast shore of New Guinea and is built around Fairfax Harbor, the island’s largest harbor.
Day 15 Fly Port Moresby to Brisbane
Transfer to the airport for your flight to Brisbane, Australia. On arrival you will be met and transferred to your hotel by private vehicle.
Don’t let Brisbane’s easy-going sub-tropical ambience fool you. There is plenty to do; visit islands, savor mouth-watering cuisine and fine local wines or soak up the arts or sporting lifestyle. The beer gardens and verandas alone say it all – you can’t beat Brisbane’s lifestyle. It’s warm most of the year and the locals are friendly. Despite the unhurried tempo, there is always something to do.
Day 16 Fly Brisbane to USA
Transfer to the airport by private vehicle for your departure flight.
